Thank You and Your Welcome Kanye

Lots and lots of drunk, screaming teenagers and young folk dressed in their best neon or glow in the dark attire and crammed into the Tweeter - or whatever we’re calling the Camden stadium nowadays - for the Glow in the Dark Tour. Even from lawn seats far far away, Lupe Fiasco, N.E.R.D., Rihanna, and Kanye put on a very good show. The line up was so solid that the place was bumpin from the second Lupe went on to the last note that Kanye sung on his pre-planned encore. No doubt, a fun time was had by all…

… Ok. But what really struck me the most and created a lasting impression was Kanye’s behavior. At one point, during one of his hits, he stared into the camera connected to the big screen that was magnifying his face so that no one could miss it. This went on for no less than 10 min. Mr. West has a certain rep - one that you have to admit he lives up to - of being a weeee bit ARROGANT. In addition, he’s known to not be shy about his opinions and say what he feels. Which I respect. He’s pretty famous for his comments - such as “George Bush doesn’t care about Black people.” But the icing on the cake came as I fled the stadium like a refugee trying to make it out of the country and onto the jam packed ferry on time. As I dashed for the terminal, I was handed the gem that is Kanye’s book of advise for living your life. Just incase you want to be just like Kanye. While there are some very truthful things inside the pages of this spiral bound book, I couldn’t help but feel like this was his way of justifying his tendencies. Oh, and confirming that the pole is firmly placed up his ass.

Our personal favorite tid bits of this book:

• Embrace your flaws! ( Warning! Arrogant people are most often too arrogant to realize their arrogance.) So he used to be a buck toothed young bull. He got bullied for it. He got his teeth fixed. He’s now beautiful. “So now, when I see people with messed-up teeth, I want to be that one person who tells them the truth like the kids told me, ‘Your teeth are big and white like a horse!’ I don’t believe in accepting a changeable condition.

LOVE YOU KANYE… but probably not as much as you love yourself…
