Sneak Tip

sneaktip.jpg

New feature coming at you, just to help us order things around here. Sometimes, we get jumbled.

Creative Review recently posted these Y-3 sneakers.  Not sure how i feel about the look, but the packaging and all that behind them is pretty amazingly awesome. Celebrating the 25th anniversary of Manchester’s Hacienda nightclub, Peter Saville (graphic artists for Factory Records who probably directly or indirectly inspired tons of graphic artists), Ben Kelly (architect behind the Hacienda), and Peter Hook (bassist for New Order and Joy Division) collaborated on this trainer. It comes in a box shaped like the Hacienda with a piece of wood made to look like the dance floor. It comes with tissue paper featuring sketches of the design for the Hacienda, and a DVD of people talking about the club. Only downside : the price tag is wayyy up there and run is limited to 250.
If you don’t know much about Factory Records, Tony Wilson, or the Hacienda I suggest you do some research. And that doesn’t mean renting 24 Hour Party People.

NUMBER 6!!

Picture 11.jpg

Well, Philadelphia has fallen again in the latest census of most populated cities. We’re now at number six, and we’re behind Phoenix. Seriously. Now, I’ve been to Phoenix, and it’s nothing to write home about. It’s hot and kind of ugly. But I guess if you’ve got an increasing murder rate, a mayor who won’t do anything to bring new jobs to the city, and a thriving, ever-developing suburbia, then you’re bound to lose some fine citizens.

100

Last night, as the Phillies drowned in the rain, the water washed up a few pieces of gold along with the usual turds you’ve come to expect from a Phillies game. Big Ryan Howard knocked a 505ft homer to dead center, the longest in Citizen’s Bank Park history. This dinger was also Ryan’s 100th home run. He’s also reached 100 faster than anybody ever in the Majors. So put those nuggets in your pocket, flush the turds, and hope the Phillies toilet doesn’t clog again like it’s been also season.

The Light That Never Goes Out

The light that never goes out, did, in fact, go out. Morrissey has canceled two shows, including his Philadelphia performance. The culprit: a throat infection (insert your own joke here.) Fret not, Moz-lovers, the clumsy and shy one will be back at some point to woo you with his open shirt.
