These sneakers have been popping up on blogs for a few months and there’s been almost no information about them whatsoever. No release date, no artist, no reason, etc. Until recently, there were only pictures. These shoes were kind of a legend, and it looks like they’re going to stay that way. The creator behind the shoes, Dylan Adair, has shed some light on the project that will never see the light of day. Hopefully, somebody picks up this concept now that it’s gotten a lot of attention.
Now for phase two of this blog post, and it’s all about the band behind these sneakers. Since the angst-ridden age of 14, I’ve been a fan of Joy Division. Something about their music really caught my attention, and even to this day, they hold a specialĀ place in my heart. They’re also one of the only bands from that dark period of my life that I still listen to quite regularly. I’d even go as far as to say that they’re my favorite band. Now they’re popping up on t-shirts and sneakers, and there’s a movie being made about Ian Curtis. Some of it seems shallow, some of it seems trite. However, these sneakers and the concept behind them seem well-intended now that the designer behind them have let us into his inspiration and idea behind the sneakers. If they were released, I’d probably buy a pair, never wear them, and freeze them in time like the band after Curtis took his own life and the rest of the Manchester lads formed a little band called New Order. Sorry for the nostalgia.
