In their “Top Ten Worst Cities for Bike Theft,” Kryptonite crowned a new “winner,” and it’s none other than our fair city of Philadelphia. According to the report, no other city even came close. Looks like the price of gas has driven (pun intended) more consumers to the two-wheeled leg pumper. Or could it just be that the high murder rate has trickled down into petty crime? Or are more hipsters reporting their fixies stolen because they spent wayyyyy too much money on them. Just find an old road bike and do a conversion. So what if it has vertical drops? Are horizontals/chain tension really going to make that much of a difference as your ride between DJ nights?
