The Softies!!!! Everything about this band seems to make sense; there are few surprises, and it’s actually welcome, refreshing, sincere, and downright good. Telling a tale that weaves together fanzines, handwritten letters, and the oh-so-gentle and sappy (in a good way) umbrella of K Records/Pacific Northwest “twee” The Softies are exactly as their name implies: soft. From the reverb-heavy guitar strumming and plucking to the lyrics that equally whisper of falling in, being in, and falling out of love, The Softies go down like a teaspoon of sugar without the medicine. Releasing records from 1994 up until 2000, the two-girl duo have a huge place in my heart, and always will. Favorite tracks include: Alaska, Heart Condition, Best Days, Splintered Hands, Winter Pageant.
