A portrait of Stephen Colbert now hangs in the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Institution. He’s right there with the hall of presidents. However, he’s hung above the water fountain and between the two bathrooms. Colbert has been lobbying to be a part of the collection for a while now, but the Smithsonian finally gave in. The museum says the portrait will stay up for about six weeks and that they’re going along with the joke, but place huge emphasis on its temporary status and the fact that it’s not becoming a part of the collection.
