The Eagles beat Minnesota by a touchdown. We repeat: They beat Minnesota (one of the worst teams in the league) by a touchdown. Hold your excitement for a bit, that doesn’t really say much, but at least they didn’t regress at all, and actually took a few steps forward. First, they figured out that once you get into the red zone, the field gets really small and passing gets harder, so they ran the ball and Westbrook ran for two touchdowns from it (a shovel pass should not count as a pass). Next, McNabb looked a little better than he has–not as tentative, but then again Minnesota has the worst passing defense in the league, and it seems like the receivers finally stepped up a bit and decided to make some plays themselves (how about those amazing catches by Curtis and Brown near the sidelines?). Finally, the play calling wasn’t tiredly predictable–something that’s been happening all season. People know what the fuck they’re going to do which lead to so many early offensive woes. But, this game, they did things a bit differently and by-God it worked. Hopefully this was only a small sign of things to come. The schedule gets mad tough in the next few weeks though.
