So, Philadelphia, we’ve finally made it. We’re in Rolling Stone! That’s right, the magazine that was somewhat cool when you were like 12 or 13, but now is just filled with stuff you’ve known about for six months or more thanks to the Internet. In their “Hot Issue” (with Kid Rock on the cover no less), the staff at RS ranks Philly as the hot music scene. With small spotlights pointed on Diplo, The Teeth, Spank Rock, The Last Drop, Dr. Dog, Silk City, and the First Unitarian Church, RS really dug deep into the Philly music scene to uncover the standards. Also, even though there’s two pages of Philly’s gems, it’s not a spread. That’s right, we must not be that “hot” if Rolling Stone broke us apart with ad space. Don’t look for much in the way of interviews of quotes from any of these people/venues either. There’s about one quote per musician. So, you know they did their homework and developed quite a story.
