Yes, it’s another installment of my “beef with..” column. This time the designers let me put my photoshop skillz to the test. Here’s what I came up with. I think it’s charming, but whatever.

Polycollaborating. Yes, that’s a new word that I made up. And yes, I  have beef with it. What’s polycollaborating or polycollaboration? It’s a new phenomenon that’s wreaking havoc in the streetwear biz. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m all for collaborations, but the new trend seems to be three (3) or more brands collaborating/crossbrading one piece. To me, this seems a little excessive, and a lot of these polycollaborations i’ve seen don’t seem to really represent all parties involved. That seems like a rule for collaboration: represent everyone equally. What I do enjoy about this polycollaborating involves the good-natured , non-competitiveness these brands are showing with a willingness to work together for the community at large. What I’m not enjoying is the multitude of partners. One of these brands is liable to catch something around their “unmentionables” if this promiscuous brand-whoring, polycollaborating continues. Perhaps [ 2 one 5 ] will develop a condom specifically designed to reduce the risk of unwanted, embarrassing CTD’s (cross-brandingly transmitted diseases).
